Community Owned Assets
An essential element of all successful community development trusts is acquiring and managing land and property on behalf of the local community. This has a number of benefits, including the provision of space to house new activities, the creation of an income stream, increased ability to influence what’s happening and to provide collateral for borrowing (to finance new developments).
As part of the overall strategy set out in our business plan, the North Edinburgh Trust intends to own and manage assets (land and property) on behalf of the local community and is already exploring a number of possible acquisitions.
