Social Enterprise in North Edinburgh
The North Edinburgh Trust is actively looking for opportunities to develop community-owned businesses that have social aims. The aim of these businesses, or social enterprises, ultimately will be to offer training and employment opportunities for local people, by providing products and services and delivering contracts, where there are opportunities to do so. These businesses will be run on a commercial basis with one crucial difference. Any profit that they make will be reinvested within the organisation or used to support the work and social aims of the Trust in developing more opportunities for local people.
By developing social enterprises, the Trust intends to not only support the local community, but also to reduce its dependency on grant income and increase its sustainability.
